Got a repeatable deployment of my Catalyst based web app to EC2, running under mod_perl with apache 2. Yay.
Next up: allocating an external IP and setting up DNS. Tomorrow.

have you tried the ec2 management interface? it is dead easy and does a million things you'd never think to do with the cli

Not yet - this is not so much about EC2 as it is just about pushing a web site - I don't want to give the web access to git and I need to run make on one module and things like that.
